SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — State Rep. Matt Hanson, D-Montgomery, issued the following statement after
Gov. Pritzker’s budget address this afternoon, emphasizing the need for relief as families are struggling
to make ends meet nationwide and outlining main priorities for his district:
“Over this last year, families across the country have faced a significant increase in expenses. People
are paying more for groceries, more for utility bills, more for housing. No one can afford to live like
this. And Trump’s illegal tariffs have cost working households over $150 billion in 2025 alone, which
certainly doesn’t help matters. Since we can’t control the decisions being made in Washington, we are
focusing on what we can control at the state level.”
“Today, the Governor shared his priorities for the state budget; now it’s time to get to work. The next
few months will be spent ensuring my priorities are reflected and my district is represented in the
budget. From funding grants for higher education to income tax and property tax relief, by investing in
a smart, responsible budget, I’m investing in an affordable future for Illinois.”
