SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Matt Hanson, D-Montgomery, highlighted state funding for the Fox Valley Park District’s Vaughan Tennis Center, paving the way for needed improvements to the facilities.
“A critical part of our state’s budgetary process is making sure our communities and their important development projects are supported,” Hanson said. “During these hot summer months, a lack of proper air conditioning all but drives people away from the tennis center’s indoor courts. This grant will help make this facility a year-around attraction.”
Hanson secured $250,000 to provide an energy-efficient air conditioning unit to the Vaughan Tennis Center. The facility features nine hard turf indoor courts, private instruction, options for professional and beginner play, among others. Using the on-site pond, the facility will utilize a state-of-the-art geothermal system to power the AC unit, saving money and powered by clean-energy.
“There’s no doubting the importance of this complex to the community and our state,” Hanson said. “Tennis and pickleball can be learned and enjoyed by everyone of all ages, and this needed improvement will make sure anyone can pick up the sport anytime of the year.”
